Introduction - Our Philosophy

Mt. Airy Daycare and Learning Center will create and promote an environment that is safe, healthy and inviting: one that fosters respect, fairness, caring, trust and the process of learning in a positive manner.

Our program will incorporate best practices that encourage children to become independent thinkers with age-appropriate activities that help children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Activities and learning opportunities will be provided that allow children to grow and develop in the areas of: Personal and Social, Language, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Thinking, Social Studies, The Arts, Health and Physical.

We will create a setting that welcomes and embraces the differences and individuality of children and their families providing opportunities to learn about a variety of holidays and celebrations.

At Mt. Airy Daycare and Learning Center, we try to take a low-key and relaxed approach to almost everything. We feel it is far more important for children to have fun and enjoy what is happening, to gain knowledge at their own pace, and to make discoveries in their own way.

Our program includes age appropriate activities such as self-selected and planned activities, which foster sound social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. We provide a variety of experiences in language, science, math, dramatic play, music, art and block play. We also encourage good health practices, nutrition, and safety.

While we offer intellectual stimulation, the main emphasis of our program is on social skills. In this area, we teach the children about sharing, working out difficulties through talking, and having respect of others’ rights.
