Our Teaching Team

What we believe

Building a child’s self confidence and sense of self are key to success in school and life.  Our teachers work to build each child’s self-esteem and encourage successful social interaction. As children build relationships and have opportunities to expand on their play, their vocabulary increases, their conversations become more complex, and their sense of self worth grows exponentially.

What we believe

is the learning experiences that children will have in our program are priceless and will carry them far in life. With a balanced schedule of large and small groups, indoor and outdoor activity, and daily self-help routines, each child is ready to enter school and become a life-long learner.

Training
We are committed to providing a quality program and this requires that our staff stays current with trends in Early Childhood Education.  Although staff are required by the State of Maryland to complete at least 12 hours of continuing education each year, many of our staff exceed this requirement.  The center encourages our staff to grow and develop professionally by providing on site training opportunities, making quality training available that is relevant to the needs of the staff and center.

An additional piece of training that has been incorporated into our program is Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR).  MMSR is a 54 hour training course that extends over a nine month period, guiding and education staff as how to use Work Sampling System, an observation based assessment tool.

As required by OCC, all staff members have completed the Basic First Aid training and Pediatric Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) during the first year with our center.  The staff follows the guidelines and stays current with the regulations.

All Mt. Airy Daycare and Learning Center Staff have filed for, or are in the process of filing for, Maryland State Credentialing.

Each employee of Mt. Airy Daycare and Learning Center, Inc. is a member of the Maryland State Child Care Association and the National Child Care Association, state and nationally sponsored organizations that advocate for children and early childhood education.
